I. Pre-packaging Furniture Pretreatment

(A) Cleaning and Protection

  • Surface Cleaning: Wipe off dust on the furniture surface with a soft dry cloth. For solid wood furniture, check if debris remains in the wood grain gaps; use a neutral detergent to wipe glass/marble components to ensure no oil stains or fingerprints.

  • Detachable Parts Disassembly: Removable drawers, cabinet doors, handles and other accessories should be packaged separately with labels. Small parts such as screws should be put into a sealed bag and fixed near the original component (e.g., pasted inside the drawer with tape).

(B) Buffer Material Selection

  • Basic Buffer Layer:

    • Flannel/Cotton Cloth: Used to wrap the surface of solid wood and leather furniture to prevent scratches (thickness ≥ 3mm).

    • EPE Pearl Cotton: Cover fragile parts such as glass and mirrors, with edges thickened to 5-8cm.

    • Bubble Film: Wrap slender components such as metal brackets and table legs, with bubbles facing outward to enhance shock resistance (number of layers ≥ 2).

II. Wooden Box Structure Design and Material Selection

(A) Wooden Box Type Adaptation

Furniture TypeRecommended Wooden Box StructureKey Parameters
Large Solid Wood Bed FrameDetachable and Assembled Wooden BoxPanel thickness 18-22mm, load-bearing ≥ 500kg
Glass Coffee TableFully Enclosed Frame + Lined Buffer StructureReinforced with wooden strips around, with a bottom support beam
Combined WardrobeModular Custom Wooden BoxSingle box weight ≤ 80kg, with reserved handle positions

(B) Material Standards

  • Panel Selection:

    • Main Frame: Made of pine/poplar multi-layer panels (moisture content ≤ 12%), with strong anti-deformation ability.

    • Lined Protection: EVA foam board (density ≥ 30kg/m³) for high-end furniture, and honeycomb cardboard can be used as a substitute for ordinary furniture.

  • Hardware Accessories:

    • Connecting Screws: Adopt M6-M8 galvanized screws to prevent rust and loosening during transportation.

    • Corner Fittings: Metal L-shaped corners (thickness ≥ 2mm) to reinforce the four corners of the wooden box and reduce collision damage.

III. Detailed Explanation of Core Packaging Process

(A) Packaging Steps for Single Furniture

Sofa Category

  • Buffer Treatment:

    • Wrap protruding parts such as armrests and backrests with hard foam boards (thickness 5cm), and then fix them with bubble film.

    • Cover the surface of fabric sofas with waterproof and dustproof cloth, and seal the zippers with tape to prevent dust from entering.

  • Wooden Box Customization:

    • Install a sliding tray at the bottom (5cm off the ground) for easy forklift loading and unloading; use wooden strips to make a "well"-shaped support on the four walls inside the box to prevent the sofa from shaking.

Dining Table Category (with Glass Top)

  • Glass Protection:

    • Paste explosion-proof film on the glass surface, wrap the perimeter with U-shaped rubber strips (width ≥ 3cm), and then fix them with a wooden frame (fill the gap between the frame and the glass with pearl cotton).

  • Overall Boxing:

    • Pack the table top and table legs in separate boxes. Wrap the table legs with corrugated paper tubes, and lay a 2cm thick plywood at the bottom of the wooden box to enhance load-bearing.

(B) Packaging Strategies for Combined Furniture

  • Modular Disassembly:

    • Disassemble bookcases and wardrobes into laminates, side panels, and door panels, and mark each piece with an installation serial number (e.g., "W-01" represents the left side panel of the wardrobe).

    • Fill the inside of the drawer with soft foam, and fix the slide rail with tape after closing to prevent it from sliding out.

  • Center of Gravity Balance:

    • Place heavy components (such as solid wood table legs) at the bottom of the wooden box, and place light components (such as fabric cushions) on the upper layer. Use horizontal wooden struts inside the box to fix them to prevent tilting.

IV. Sealing and Labeling Specifications

(A) Wooden Box Sealing Technology

  • Joint Treatment:

    • Apply waterproof glue to the joints of the wooden box panels (thickness after curing ≥ 1mm), and then paste wide tape (width ≥ 5cm) crosswise to prevent rainwater from seeping in.

  • Load-bearing Test:

    • Apply a pressure of 200-300kg to the top of the wooden box after sealing (for 1 hour) to ensure no deformation or cracking.

(B) Transportation Labeling System

  • Mandatory Marking Content:

    • Center of Gravity Mark: Use an arrow to mark "CENTER OF GRAVITY" and the direction to avoid tilting during loading and unloading.

    • Fragile Warning: Paste a "FRAGILE" label on the surface of the glass component box, with the font height ≥ 10cm and a red border around it.

  • Information Label:

    • Paste a waterproof label containing the furniture model, quantity, and packaging date, and attach a packing list (sealed in a plastic bag and nailed to the inside of the box door).

V. Packaging Key Points for Special Material Furniture

(A) Mahogany Furniture

  • Buffer Upgrade:

    • Cover the surface with pure cotton dust-proof cloth, and then wrap it with a customized solid wood frame (fill the gap between the frame and the furniture with dry cotton) to prevent cracking caused by changes in temperature and humidity during transportation.

  • Wooden Box Moisture Protection:

    • Place silica gel desiccant inside the box (dosage according to 100g/m³), and lay a moisture-proof film at the bottom (thickness ≥ 0.5mm).

(B) Leather Furniture

  • Anti-Friction Protection:

    • Apply special maintenance oil to the leather surface (to form a protective film), and then wrap it with soft PU film. Fill the joints with sponge strips to prevent extrusion deformation.

VI. Loading, Unloading and Transportation Precautions

(A) Mechanical Operation Specifications

  • Forklift Use:

    • Adjust the distance between the fork teeth to 2/3 of the width of the wooden box, insert to a depth ≥ 1/2 of the length of the wooden box, and the lifting speed ≤ 0.5m/s.

  • Hoisting Requirements:

    • Nylon slings (load-bearing ≥ 2 times the box weight) should be used for glass furniture wooden boxes, and the hoisting points should be in the positions marked on the box body. Single-point hoisting is strictly prohibited.

(B) Transportation Environment Control

  • Temperature and Humidity Monitoring:

    • Use a constant temperature vehicle for long-distance transportation (temperature 15-25℃, humidity 40%-60%), and place a temperature and humidity recorder inside the box (automatically recording every 2 hours).

  • Shock-Proof Measures:

    • Lay a 5cm thick shock-proof pad at the bottom of the truck, and fill the space between the wooden boxes with inflatable bags (air pressure maintained at 0.2-0.3MPa) to reduce bumping and impact.

VII. Packaging Cost and Efficiency Optimization

(A) Cost Control

  • Material Reuse:

    • For reused wooden boxes, check the damage of the panels, reinforce the broken parts with metal corner codes, and the lined foam boards can be cleaned and reused for the second time (limited to non-fragile items).

  • Standardized Design:

    • Establish a wooden box specification library according to the furniture size (e.g., a 1.2m×0.8m×0.6m standard box is suitable for most coffee tables) to reduce custom losses.

(B) Efficiency Improvement

  • Pre-assembly Process:

    • Pre-assemble the wooden box frame during batch packaging, and only need to complete the furniture loading and sealing on site, so that the packaging time for a single box can be shortened to 20 minutes.
